The YRI Fellowship pairs ambitious high school students with PhD mentors to produce original, published research. Fellows have published in IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier venues, competed at ISEF, and been admitted to the most selective universities in the world.

THE MISSION
Why YRI exists, in two paragraphs.

Research should not wait for graduate school

The students who publish young do not have more talent than everyone else. They have access: a mentor who has done it before, a process that holds their work to professional standards, and someone who refuses to let the paper die in a drawer. For decades that access belonged to faculty children and lab interns. YRI exists to put it within reach of any family serious enough to apply.

Every Fellow works one on one with a PhD mentor, every week, on an original question of their own. The output is not a certificate. It is a manuscript submitted for peer review, a competition entry, and a student who can defend their work in any room, from an admissions interview to a conference stage.

Four rules the program is built on

End to end, not advice
Most programs hand students a syllabus and wish them luck. YRI carries every Fellow from the first research question to a submitted manuscript, and support continues at no cost until the paper is published.

Held to peer review
Fellows are not graded against other high schoolers. Their work is designed, from day one, to survive the same review process that working scientists face at venues such as IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier.

Matched, not assigned
Each Fellow is paired with a PhD mentor whose expertise matches the student's field, from machine learning and astrophysics to biology and public health. The weekly 1:1 session is the engine of the program.

Results you can look up
Every publication, competition title, and admission we cite is verifiable at the source. The record is public because the standard is real.

Former President and Chief Scientist of SanRx Pharmaceuticals, and named inventor on US Patent 12,569,492. He sets the research standard at YRI and the bar every mentor on the network is held to.

ADMISSION

Admission is selective.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and seats are limited. Tuition is $2,997, with a three-payment plan available. Mentorship continues at no cost until your paper is published.
