Siri Vemireddy
Presented brain research alongside PhD students at the UT System Brain Research Summit
Cancer cells survive by resisting the signals that tell a damaged cell to die, while in neurodegenerative disease the opposite goes wrong. Siri studied how proteins ending up in the wrong part of the cell connects these two problems, and what that means for both cancer progression and neurodegenerative disease. She developed the project with her PhD mentor in the YRI Fellowship's Summer 2025 cohort, and a year later presented it at the University of Texas System Brain Research Summit.
